Guided Community Walk - Ginninderry to Shepherds Lookout
Following the Pride Grows planting day at Ginnindery on 13 May, the Trust is partnering with Landcare ACT to run a guided walk from The Link up to Shepherd's Lookout.
This walk is all about deepening connection - to nature and each other and will be deliberately slow paced. We'll take our time on this half day amble through changing terrain, activating our different senses on route and stopping to appreciate the little details before arriving at Shepherd's lookout for lunch with a view. It will be ran by our casual rangers who will help guide the way and chat about different parts of the track.
Photography walk with Cristy Froehlich
Join Cristy Froehlich, a local award-winning nature photographer, on a walk through the newest walking track nestled within the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor. The track is a moderate 3.4km walk which weaves its way from The Link building at Strathnairn to Shepherds Lookout. During the walk (set aside 3 hours return), Cristy will share with you her keen eye to help find interesting flora, insects, birds and reptiles to photograph. She will also share with you tips and tricks to photograph these subjects when out walking! A wonderful way to get back to nature, surrounded by native Australia flora and fauna. Use all of your senses to take in this beautiful location and capture some lovely images to take home.
Pride Grows Planting Day in the Conservation Corridor
Landcare ACT has organised an LGBTQI+ planting day in the Conservation Corridor which we would like to invite you to come along! The planting site extends across an area of approximately 15 hectares on a ridge high above the Murrumbidgee River. It was planted with eucalypts 20 or 30 years ago which have grown really well, but lacks mid-storey and structural habitat elements for small birds, reptiles and other animals. We are excited to have the support of the Pride Grows community to help get mid-storey species established in this patch!
Critters of the Corridor Art Exhibition
We have invited residents and visitors to submit photos for an art exhibition titled “Critters of the Corridor”. The exhibition showcases the diversity of the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor and the importance of community engagement.
The final photos have been chosen, and we are very excited to share them with you.
We would like to invite you to join us on the 22nd of April to celebrate the exhibition. Some of the Trust staff will be there to talk about the exhibition and how we aimed to showcase the diversity of the species found within the corridor, from insects to marsupials and everything in between.
School Holiday Program
We are running another school holiday program! We are inviting kids aged 7-11 to come and join us in the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor for a time of exploration and fun. The “Our Place” program will involve two exciting days of adventure and learning where we will explore the plants, habitats and cultural stories of the Corridor through an artistic lens, encouraging participants to interact with their environment through stories, paintings and games.
